If you had a fire at  your house, would you be able to make a list of things that need to be replaced in each room of your home?

I know I definitely could not!  And, if you have experienced a fire at your home, coming up with a list of things to replace will be the last thing on  your mind.

Consider taking photos of each room.  Place the photos in a safety deposit box at your bank.  Or, upload them to the cloud so that they can easily be accessed after a fire.

Keep receipts for major purchases.  If you need to replace major appliances in your home, it is helpful to have some specifics about the item.

Don’t wait until after a claim!  Be proactive.  Check with your insurance agent if you need a form for your personal property inventory.
