Can you only get health insurance during open enrollment?
You can purchase health insurance outside of open enrollment if you have a qualifying life event. There are 4 types of events that qualify:
- Loss of current health insurance coverage.
- Household changes such as birth, adoption, marriage, divorce, or death.
- Change of residence. (You must move to a different county or ZIP code.)
- Other changes including: income changes, becoming a citizen, or leaving incarceration.
How long is health insurance open enrollment?
Open enrollment on the federal marketplace generally lasts about 2 ½ months. It is best to apply early to ensure you have coverage!
When does open enrollment start?
Open enrollment for 2023 plans begins November 1, 2022 and ends January 15, 2023.
Can I enroll on my parents’ health insurance?
Children can enroll on a parents’ health insurance plan until age 26. (Even if the child is married and his children of his/her own.)
